Housatonic Valley is proud to be one of twenty-one Agricultural Science and Technology programs in Connecticut. Our program is steeped in tradition, supported by the community, and rooted in leadership development. Students gain a deeper understanding of the importance of agriculture, food, fiber, and natural resource systems, evaluating how these systems influence their lives and the world around them.
What We Offer
The Agricultural Science and Technology Education program at Housatonic Valley Regional High School is open to all students and offers a diverse curriculum. Courses provide education, career training, and hands-on experiences in areas such as:
Natural Resources
Agricultural Engineering
Animal Science
Plant Science
Food Science
Students explore the environment and the interconnected roles of animals, plants, and technology in our evolving, productive society.
Real-World Learning Opportunities
Students enrolled in the program can design their own outside-of-class learning experiences through hands-on projects and real-world applications. Additionally, they have the chance to develop leadership skills by participating in the FFA, a national organization for agricultural education students. FFA members enjoy access to:

Application Process
The program is open to students from Housatonic Valley Regional High School, as well as out-of-district students and applicants from nearby states, including Massachusetts and New York. Interested students should obtain an Agricultural Education Program application from the Guidance Office or the Agricultural Education Department.
